Uh-oh... looks like another attack of the copyright owners. Apple Yesterday pulled the Grooveshark app from the App Store after they received complaints from Universal Music Group UK -- this comes just one week after the app's initial release. Few details are available right now, but Grooveshark have posted on their blog: Earlier this afternoon, Apple sent us a letter notifying us that, due to a complaint they received from Universal Music Group UK, Grooveshark for iPhone has been, strangely, pulled from the App Store. This comes as an absolute surprise to us, and we are not sleeping until we figure out exactly how to fix this—and get Grooveshark for iPhone back in the App Store. Above all, our biggest concern is damaging the service we provide to all of you guys—our loyal (awesome) users.

HP has just spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 million to snap up Melodeo, according to TechCrunch. Melodeo offers a service to stream your music from the cloud - much like Grooveshark.

You can check them out now on their nuTsie service (get the joke there?). You can give nuTsie access to see your iTunes library and they will automatically make all the songs on their servers that match your library available for mobile streaming. TechCrunch claims that the next version will allow you to actually upload your songs to the cloud for streaming anywhere. Remember when HP said they loved the cloud and hinted that it was an integral part of their webOS strategy? Not fooling around.

Palm may have had to give up on direct iTunes sync, but it looks like HP is planning on doing them one better by purchasing a service that will let you get your entire iTunes (or whatever) library into the cloud and streamed to your webOS device. Sounds like a good trade to us - we can't wait to see what comes of this buyout.

Previously mentioned music streaming service Grooveshark is attempting to dry the tears of former Lala users after the streaming service's recent shutdown by offering one free month of their premium VIP service. The service is usually $3 a month, and gets rid of all ads on the site as well as offers desktop and mobile clients. It doesn't have cloud music storage like Lala, but for music streaming fanatics, it's probably the next best thing currently available. (Update: Grooveshark is actually based on cloud storage just like Lala, so it's a pretty good replacement. Sorry for the misinformation). We're not sure it's so much to make users feel better as it is to grab all the new paid subscribers they can before Apple releases their iTunes integrated Lala replacement, but it's certainly worth trying out if you're going through streaming withdrawal. With all the hubbub going on at Palm HQ right now, we don’t exactly blame the Palm team for having a light day in the App Catalog. After all, they’re getting bought out, and that tends to cause some trepidation. So we’ll give the extra-light nature of yesterday’s app drop a pass. For now.

First, Grooveshark enabled uploading of one’s music collection for access via its webOS software, and now, technology firm Zecter has released a new webOS client for its ZumoDrive remote storage service.
